Just for fun...have your child put the "Getting Ready For My Baptism" puzzle together. (Note: the pieces will 'click' and stay together if they are the right connection). The baby in the puzzle is the baby being baptized in the above picture.
Luke 3:20-22 (NIV)
When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son,whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” |

After watching the above videos with your child(ren)..Ask your child the following questions and have a conversation with him/her about the answers if needed.
"Who baptized Jesus?"
"Why did Jesus get baptized?"
"After Jesus was baptized, what did he hear God the Father say to him?"
"What kind of bird flew down to Jesus? ...What does this 'bird' represent? "
Take a moment and 'affirm' your child(ren) and tell him/her how pleased you are with him/her (like God the Father to Jesus).

CONNECTION TO "WORKS OF MERCY"
" I was thirsty and you gave me drink"
Water is a symbol used in baptism. Many times we take water for granted. There are many in our world without safe drinking water. We need to remember this and think about ways that we might be able to help somehow. Help your child(ren) to be grateful for the water they have and to thank God for this gift. Remind them to not be wasteful of the water they have. Discuss these things with your child(ren) and brainstorm ways that you might be able to help those in need... in some way...now or in the future.
