WELCOME
What is Families, Faith & Action?
It is an optional faith formation program that you are invited to participate in. This program would replace or enhance the 'traditional' faith formation program that is already established at the parish.
How does this program differ from the 'traditional' program?
1. This program is for the whole family (at least one parent/guardian and their children in grades 1-5).
2. Families meets approximately once a month in person for 1.5 hours each time (instead of every week).
* The 1st half hour is 'family activity' time. These activities will tend to focus on learning about the Works of Mercy and then challenging the family to use them during the month in their daily lives.
* For the next hour the children join the regular grade level classes (this is only once a month)
* During this hour the adults gather together to explore their own faith and experience each other in a small community. At this time they will also have the opportunity to review materials so that they become comfortable sharing the lessons with their child(ren).
3. In place of a weekly in-person class, the families will have an on-line session to complete together before returning for the next monthly in-person session.
Why consider the Families, Faith & Action program?
1. Parents/guardians are the first and most important teachers of their child's faith life (religious education).
2. When a child sees their parent/guardian joining them at "religion class" it shows by example how important it is to nourish one's faith.
3. By only having to come in person once a month...It may be easier to accommodate your busy life situations.
4. It can be fun to pray and work together as a family to become even closer to God.
